Bouncing from rock to rock around the world

Entering the Sea of Cortez

Cabo was a neat stop if we are honest. Lots of people go around and pass by as it’s a loud town. That, that is definitely true. But why pass up the opportunity to anchor where Moitessier lost Joshua and see the party yourself? We did anchor right next to a party boat right off the beach where a separate seemingly 24 hour party also raged on. What’s not to like, once we got tired we can, and did, decide to leave. Ah the life afloat.

Cabo Pulmo

Some who pass Cabo stop at San Jose Del Cabo which is a sister town a few miles further east and has a marina. As avid non spenders of money we went past this place as it doesn’t have any sort of safe anchorage. The trip from Cabo San Lucas to Cabo Pulmo was a scenic motor where we watched humpback whales breach in the distance the entire way. The water was warmer now and was beginning to have a color we now associate with the whole Sea of Cortez. Our first stop was reached just as the sun started to go down and we could tell we were anchored amongst other cruising yachts. The water below us sort of glowed? This was going to be a cool place to explore. We set off that evening to wander around for a bit before it got dark on the perfectly white sandy beach of set from the backdrop by the steeper than expected Baja California Sur mountains off in the distance.

Descriptions?

Really it is a bit of a shame we were so bad at keeping this blog up closer to the time this was all happening. I’m sitting here, thinking back about this and as it’s been a while feelings more so than details come back. As a by writer myself these are harder to put down and translate into something which actually captures both the details and some of that feeling of being there. I think, dear reader, a lot of our Mexican blogs are going to have to be mainly photos.

I encourage you to right click, open them in a new tab or whatever so they’re larger, and try and loose yourself into some of the amazing scenery that is Pacific Mexico.

La Paz Bound

In the back of our minds at this point was the arrival of Elizabeth and Jackson in a few weeks to meet us in La Paz. A big trip out from Boston we didn’t want to be late and risk shortening their already not too long of a trip. During this time we saw Bahia de los Muertos where we had some Pacificos with locals camping on the beach, watched the launching of Pangas with a classic Toyota Land Cruiser which had a modified bumper to push them backwards down the beach, and met KuK’au’unu who will, over the next 18 months, become a long term friend and staple of our time spent in the Baja.
